STRONGSVILLE, OHIO --- Strongsville City Schools District and Strongsville High School are pleased to announce that on June 5, 2014, Todd Church was approved by the Strongsville Board of Education as the new Head Girls Varsity Soccer Coach.

Church enters his new position with Strongsville High School after serving 9 seasons (2005-2013) as an assistant coach for the Mustangs. He has also coached soccer in the Elyria District (1998-2001, 2004).

  • SHS Intruder Drill - Thurs. 5/29

Posted by Dan Mott at 5/27/2014
    School Safety

On Thursday, May 29, at approximately 9:00 am, SHS will be having an Intruder Drill. The focus of this drill will be barricading the doors in the event that evacuation is not possible. Evacuation is always an option during an active shooter/threat. However, in some cases, the best option may be to remain in the classroom and be prepared to fight back if the intruder tries to break into the classroom. SHS Faculty/Staff will continue to share this "fight back" mentality with their students. This will be a controlled drill and monitored by the Strongsville Police Department and SHS Administration.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    Contact:          Mark Smithberger
    Telephone:       440.572.7127
    Date:               May 27, 2014

On Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at 9:15am, police officers from Brecksville, Independence, and Strongsville arrived at Strongsville High School with five specially trained dogs that are employed to detect narcotics and other illegal substances. The dogs examined randomly selected areas of the high school campus that included book bags, classrooms, lockers, restrooms, and the parking lot. In an effort to send the message that illegal activity will not be tolerated, Mr. Mark Smithberger, the high school principal, initiated this search. These types of random searches take place throughout the year.

Steve Breckner, Assistant Principal, said school officials were “very pleased with the cooperation of the students and the staff during the search.”
