The Social Studies Department has been involved in many activities over the years, in addition to the instruction that takes place each day within every classroom. Here is a small sampling of these activities.
Extra-curricular Activities:

Members of a recent "Brain Game Team." This activity is sponsored by Westfield Insurance and students have competed in Columbus. Mrs. Wakefield has served as the only faculty advisor to this group since it began at SHS.
The Social Studies Department, for many years, has coached the Academic Challenge Team, under the leadership of Mrs.Wakefield, assisted by Mr. Tumino and Mrs. Youngblood (retired).
Students, under the direction of Mr. Slovick (Social Studies Instructor and former Student Council Advisor), illuminated the walls of the "Social Studies Hallway" with various illustrations and graphics from within the social science disciplines.
Mr. Slovick has coordinated a blood drive for the past several years. Pictured above are several student volunteers practicing their civic responsibilities!

Social Studies "Royalty" (Mr. Tumino and Mrs. Jordan) take a moment to pose with "Prom Royalty" (Danny N.) while chaperoning the Senior Prom.

The Social Studies Department, under the guidance of Mr. Jess Paul Attilli, has brought Model UN back to SHS after a long absence. Strongsville received an honorable mention at a competion in Cleveland. Congratualtions!
