Volunteer Information for Field Day 2012
Make sure your team members are moving around and competing at events. They have choices, but should try at least 3 different events. You do not have to move as a group, but you should be the “go to” person for the team when they have questions about location or other event questions. They may do as many events as they can fit into the time for their session.
Event Judges:
Each event has special responsibilities as to how they are scored and supervised. The students may move to any event they choose during their session, but there is limit to the number that may compete at one time. For example, disc golf and the mile run can handle a larger group per score sheet. Foul shots may use more than one basket, but only one shooter at a time can be scored for their shots. Instructions will be at each event location along with scoring sheets.
Basic event info:
Mile Run-a large group may run at once and each runner is timed. Stickers will be given based on time standards and finishing. You many run this event every half hour or so. Record times on the score sheet and assign stickers for performance.
Home Run Derby-Hits will be taken from a tee using a plastic bat and ball. Points are awarded for hits based on distance. Three hits will be recorded and stickers assigned based on points.
Disc Golf-There will be three golf holes, all the contestants in the group take first tee shot and then move to their disc. You will record score at each hole and then total the scores and assign stickers based on finish within the group.
Obstacle Course- You will have help resetting the course after each contestant. Record times and assign stickers based on finish position by time on the scoresheet. Two courses will be set with timers at each station.
Foul Shots- Students are given 10 shots and awarded stickers based on baskets made. You may adjust the foul line for the younger grades.
Javelin -These will be in the same area and are throws for distance. Stickers will be awarded based on cumulative points for three throws marked.
