The Math Superstars program is a PTA sponsored math enrichment program. Participation is entirely optional, although it is rewarded in hopes of reaching as many students as possible. The purpose of this program is to offer students the opportunity to challenge themselves in math concepts by providing an additional learning activity. Our aim is to provide students of all ability levels a chance to extend themselves beyond the mathematics curriculum and become more confident in math.
Guidelines:
The program runs for the first three quarters of each school year.
Students will receive a worksheet on Fridays (according to the schedule) and have until the following Friday to hand in the completed worksheet to their teacher.
There will be four worksheets per quarter, for a total of 12 worksheets each school year.
Parents are encouraged to assist and review the worksheets as needed with their children
Volunteers on the math superstars committee will check the worksheets to see if answers are right or wrong but no point value will be given. Instead, correct answers and explanations, when necessary, will be given by the correctors.
Students will not be given a grade on the worksheets, nor do the worksheets count toward any academic grade. Student participation is completely optional.
Students must complete at least 3 out of 4 worksheets per quarter to receive an award at the end of that quarter.
