  • Testing Round 2

Posted by SHS Webmaster at 4/24/2015

The second round of PARCC and AIR testing will take place from April 30 - May 5.  After the first round of testing in February, we have decided to modify the testing schedule. Our upcoming testing schedule will not involve a late arrival, as students will be tested in the gymnasiums, the multi purpose room, and specific classrooms within the building.  After talking to staff and students, we have made the decision to have students take multiple units of tests on the same day to minimize the number of days used for testing.

    The order of testing is:

    Thursday, April 30 - Engish 9

Friday, May 1 - Algebra I and Geometry

Monday, May 4 - Physical Science

Tuesday, May 5 - American History and American Government

Here is the link to the full testing schedule.  If you have any specific questions regarding testing, please contact your child’s counselor or administrator.

  • Geo-labs at SHS

Posted by SHS Webmaster at 4/23/2015
Students in the new AP Human Geography classes have gotten very excited about the new addition to our curriculum and their classroom.  Students have completed a series of "geo-labs" this semester where they get to use globes to learn geographic concepts for their AP exam.  The exciting thing about these "geo-labs" is that students can use dry erase markers to write on the globes and maps to demonstrate their understanding of the various concepts to show their teachers who can provide immediate feedback.  "The kids are loving it!" said Mr. Mike Sack, one of the AP Human Geography teachers.  Both he and Mr. Aaron Phelps have been been utilizing this approach throughout the semester.
