  • Free Practice ACT Test at Public Library

    This year Strongsville Branch Library is again offering a FREE ACT Practice Exam on Saturday, October 4th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The test is administered and graded by the Huntington Learning Center.  Students may then take a free ACT Practice Test Follow-Up at the library on Monday, October 20th at 7 p.m.   This is a great opportunity to take the test as a practice before trying the real thing!  Interested parents or students may register by calling the library at 440.238.5530 or going online at

    SHS extends an enthusiastic WELCOME to Brigadier General James McDivitt (Gemini/Apollo Astronaut) to speak with our science students today! Main message "Make the most of your academics and be prepared, for you do not know when life opportunities will come about." (As well as taking questions from the students, talking about being a test pilot/astronaut, and telling stories from his Gemini/Apollo days!) Many thanks to Brigadier General James McDivitt for it has been an honor and privilege to have him here with us!

  • SHS Scores Top 6% on ODE Report Card

    On Friday, our district and building report cards were released by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). We did very well. Our building received the following grades from ODE: Performance Index - A, Indicators Met - A, Gap Closing - B, 4yr Cohort Graduation Rate - A, 5yr Graduation Rate - A. Our index score was 109.1! This ranks as the 50th highest high school index score in the state and puts us in the top 6% overall. This kind of ranking can be attributed to motivated and intelligent students, a committed, knowledgeable, and caring staff, and a supportive community. Congratulations on a job well done! We all know teaching is more than just test scores, but let’s be honest, it is nice to score well.

    TO: An Open Invitation to All High School Parents
    FROM: The High School Teachers, Staff, and Administrators

    YES! The 2014/2015 High School Open House is scheduled for the evening of August 28 and will begin promptly at 6:45 pm. Parents are to report to the cafeteria from 6:30-6:50 to obtain a copy of their son’s/daughter’s class schedule.

    YES! We will be following an abbreviated version of your son’s/daughter’s schedule. This will enable our staff to discuss course content and expectations of each course your child is currently enrolled in for first semester.

    YES! Every parent is encouraged to join the parent support groups that represent our children and Strongsville High School. During the evenings activities, parent representatives from the PTA, Athletic Boosters, Instrumental Boosters, and Choral Boosters will have membership tables stationed in the cafeteria to accept your membership. Parents are encouraged to show their support and become a member of these parent support organizations.

    All 9th Grade / New SHS Students are encouraged and welcomed to attend the Annual SHS New Student Walk-Through!  This is a time and opportunity to walk the halls of SHS, follow your schedule, and to learn the lay-out of the school without the pressure of being to class on time!  
    Come with your friends and explore the hallowed halls of SHS on Wednesday, Aug. 13th, from 9am - 2pm!

  • SHS Welcomes Mr. Tumino as new Asst. Principal

    It is our privilege to share with you the announcement of Mr. Brian Tumino as Assistant Principal at Strongsville High School.  
    Mr. Tumino has served our district as an English and Social Studies teacher at Strongsville High School for the past 19 years.  In addition to his experience in the classroom, Mr. Tumino has served as Department Chairperson for Social Studies, K-12 Social Studies Coordinator, as well as serving on many district and state-level committees.  Mr. Tumino is an exciting addition to our high school administrative team and we are thrilled that he will be able to continue his educational career with our district.  His dedication and passion to education and curricular expertise will be an asset to our high school and district.  
    Please join me in congratulating Mr. Tumino as he moves into his new role with the district.
