Orientation and Mobility
Orientation and mobility services may be provided to blind or visually impaired students to enable those students to attain orientation to and move safely within their environments in school, home, and community. This includes teaching students the following, as appropriate:

Use of information received by the senses to develop spatial and environmental concepts needed to establish, maintain, or regain orientation in order to travel;

Use of a long cane to supplement visual travel skills or as a tool for safely negotiating the environment for those students who do not have traveled vision;

Understanding and use of remaining vision and distance low vision aids.
