Lotus Notes Groupware and Application System

Beginning is 1999, Strongsville City School has been using the Lotus Notes and Domino Server. What is Lotus Notes?

IBM Lotus Domino server software combines enterprise-class messaging and calendar/ scheduling capabilities with a robust platform for collaborative applications on a wide variety of operating systems. The Lotus Domino Server is available in three offerings: IBM Lotus Domino Messaging Server (messaging only), IBM Lotus Domino Utility Server (applications only), and IBM Lotus Domino Enterprise Server (both messaging and applications).

IBM Lotus Notesis workstation (client) software that provides an integrated collaborative environment. It is one of the client options for users to access the messaging and collaboration capabilities of the Lotus Domino server.

Hardware

The Domino Server Cluster consists of three IBM Netfinity File Servers. Domino1 and Domino2 are Netfinity 346, dual 3.2GHZ Intel Zeon processors, three 73GB HD in Raid 5, 2GB PC3200 DDR Ram. Domino1 and 2 are managed with Domino Cluster Manager running on a Netfinity 345. Domino3 Cluster Manager is the same configuration as Domino1 and 2, with dual 2.8GHZ Zeons.

SPAM

In early September, 2006 a Barracuda Spam Filter (http://www.barracudanetworks.com/) was installed to reduce the amount of spam mail entering our system. If you removed the tagged messages from the delivered today, only a small percentage of all incoming mail is being delivered. Tagged messages are marked with [BULK] in the subject line. These messages are most likely spam, but the message doesn't score high enough for removal. Each day delivered messages are reviewed and spam is identified so that the system can "Learn" new spam patterns.
