 Kindergarten Registration Process

 New legislation was recently passed, removing the requirement of implementing all-day kindergarten. Subsequently, kindergarten classes will remain half-day sessions.

 

Student Eligibility

Kindergarten is mandatory in Ohio.  According to State Law and District policy, any child who becomes five years old on or before September 30, 2013 is eligible for admission into the Strongsville School District's Kindergarten program this August. 

 

Beginning in January, registration forms can be picked up at the elementary building closest to your home.  This enrollment package contains the required enrollment forms (see below for details), information about Safety Town, school transportation and helpful hints you can use to prepare your child for Kindergarten.

 

Registration Dates and Times
 
This year registration will take place at the STRONGSVILLE CITY SCHOOLS SUPPORT SERVICE CENTER at 15650 Pearl Road (next to the Strongsville Post Office). Registration time will be from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Dates for kindergarten registration are as follows:

Required Documentation

During the March enrollment process, parents must bring these completed forms (which may be picked up at the nearest elementary building after January 3, 2013) Student Information Form (Registration Form), Kindergarten Questionnaire, Home Language Survey and the Kindergarten Health Form - along with the following documents:

Student's Birth Certificate
Student's Social Security Number 
Student's Immunization Records
Proof of Residency - One of the following: tax bill, mortgage coupon, gas, electric or sewer/water bill, insurance policy on dwelling, or a signed rental or purchase agreement 
 Verification of legal custody/guardianship (only if child is not living with both his/her natural parents): Certified Copy of Court Order or Court Appointed Guardianship
