SUPPLIES to be acquired at a MUSIC STORE

Shop around:  Not all music stores have the same quality instrument!
Price compare!:  Call locations or visit websites to check on rates.  Another important thing to ask is what the "rent to own" policy is!

VIOLINS:  An Appropriate-sized instrument (take the fitting slip with you) which includes a bow, rosin, case, a copy of Essential Elements for Strings Book I , shoulder pad (Everrest, Kuhn, Viva, or Wolf Brands), a Collapsible Music Stand, Pencil.

VIOLAS:  An Appropriate-sized instrument (take the fitting slip with you) which includes a bow, rosin, case, a copy of Essential Elements for Strings Book I , shoulder pad (Everrest, Kuhn, Viva, or Wolf Brands), a Collapsible Music Stand, and Pencil.

CELLOS:    An Appropriate-sized instrument (take the fitting slip with you) which includes a bow, rosin, case, a copy of Essential Elements for Strings Book I , a rock-stop (Doughnut style, or Stoppin Brand), a Collapsible Music Stand, Pencil.

BASSES:  An Appropriate-sized instrument (take the fitting slip with you) which includes a bow, rosin, case, a copy of Essential Elements for Strings Book I , a rock-stop (Donut style, or Stoppin Brand), a Collapsible Music Stand, Pencil, and a stool (27-29 inches high, can be collapsible metal or wood, found at Walmart, Target, or Lowes).   You may want to purchase TWO stools: one for home practice, one for school use.

Not all stores will rent basses!  Peter Zarat Violins, Cleveland Violin, Studio Strings and Rettig’s Music do.

DO NOT OBTAIN AN INSTRUMENT FROM A BOX RETAILER, PAWN SHOP, OR THE INTERNET.  MOST OF THEM ARE JUNK (GREEN WOOD).

If you visit a music store that is “out” of the size of instrument your child requires, go somewhere else!  Please do not accept a larger-sized substitute.
