Special Needs

Who Is A Special Needs Child?

According to IDEA, (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), a special needs child is a student ages 3-21 that has been evaluated with rule 3301-51-06 of the Administrative Code Multifactored Evaluation (MFE) having a:

  • cognitive disability

  • hearing impairment (including deafness)

  • speech or language impairment

  • visual impairment (including blindness)

  • emotional disturbance

  • orthopedic impairment

  • autism

  • traumatic brain injury

  • any other health impairments

  • specific learning disabilty

  • deaf-blindness

  • multiple disabilities and who by reason thereof needs special education and related services
