The health and safety of all Strongsville City Schools students, teachers, staff, and administrators is our top priority, as we navigate the return of in-person, face-to-face learning in our District and the anticipated challenges that we will face throughout the 2020-21 school year.
While our nation (and the entire world) deals with the pandemic, we are doing everything in our power to minimize the disruption of our educational environments.
- Will classrooms look different in 2020-21? Yes.
- Will we need to become comfortable with some uncomfortable changes? Yes.
- Will we need to have patience, compassion, and understanding as we work through this together? Absolutely.
The decision to return students to the classroom for in-person learning takes into account the improving conditions in the weekly reported COVID-19 risk level for Cuyahoga County, as well as sustained improvement in data points outlined by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health. We will continue to collaborate and cooperate with the Office of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Education, and the Cuyahoga County Health Department in adjusting and adapting these plans, if necessary, for in-person learning.
We are striving to best meet the educational needs of all students, combined with maintaining a safe learning environment. We will continue to take every necessary health and safety precaution to help mitigate the inherent risks during this pandemic.
We know that some parents will want their children to continue learning at home. The Strongsville Online Learning Opportunity (SOLO) is a fully online option for students in grades K-12. This option keeps students enrolled in our District and provides the opportunity for these online students to graduate with a Strongsville High School diploma. Specific registration details for SOLO can be found on this site - families will need to commit to a minimum of one semester.
As we all have experienced over the past few months, conditions can change weekly (and even daily). Though we are confident in our responsible restart comprehensive plan for the 2020-21 school year, we all must remember to anticipate and expect flexibility in order to adapt and change in response to unforeseen circumstances.
WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER!
