Strongsville, OH (May 10, 2016) - The Strongsville City Schools “Excellence in Athletics” Campaign received a $50,000 donation from the Strongsville Chamber of Commerce to further assist in the fundraising efforts for new synthetic turf fields at Pat Catan Stadium at Strongsville High School and the new Strongsville Middle School.

Since October 2015 when the campaign kicked off, the “Excellence in Athletics” fundraising campaign has received corporate and individual donation commitments totaling over $1.4 million. Contributing organizations include Serpentini Chevrolet, Southwest General Health Center, the Pat Catan family, Shoreline Trucking, GPD Group, Hammond Construction, Strongsville’s Athletic Booster Club, Strongsville’s Music Booster Club, Strongsville Lacrosse, City Club, Chick-fil-A, the MAQ Center, Strongsville administration and Board members, and Strongsville PTA.

“We have received fantastic community support throughout this fundraising campaign. We greatly appreciate this donation from the Strongsville Chamber of Commerce and thank them for their generosity in helping make the turf projects at both Pat Catan Stadium and the new Strongsville Middle School a reality. This project will benefit our district, and most importantly our students, for years to come,” said Cameron Ryba, Strongsville City Schools Superintendent.

The Strongsville Chamber of Commerce is proud to continue a longstanding partnership with Strongsville City Schools. A great community needs an outstanding school system and we are pleased to continue to help make that a reality. We look forward to this project being completed and working with the schools on future projects,” said Tom Burichin, member of the Strongsville Chamber of Commerce Trustees.

The natural grass at Pat Catan Stadium will begin to be replaced immediately following the end of the school year. The new synthetic turf playing surface will be installed and ready for activity by the beginning of the Mustangs football season in mid-August. Strongsville Middle School’s field will be installed and completed in September of 2017.
