SHS Track will be Named ‘Progressive Poured Walls Track’

Strongsville, OH (June 3, 2016) - The Strongsville City Schools “Excellence in Athletics” Campaign received a $100,000 donation from Progressive Poured Walls to further assist in the fundraising efforts for new synthetic turf fields at Pat Catan Stadium at Strongsville High School and the new Strongsville Middle School. The donation includes naming rights to the high school track. Strongsville High School’s track will now be “Progressive Poured Walls Track.”

“As proud Strongsville alumni, my wife Kristy and I are both honored to be able to give back to the community that did so much for us throughout our lives. For the past several years, I have been advocating for a turf field at the high school. I am amazed at the efforts of the ‘Excellence in Athletics’ committee, in cooperation with the community, to raise funds for two turf fields and I couldn't wait to be a part of it. When we sat down and tried to think of ways to contribute and give back, I reminisced on the countless hours I spent running around that track during my high school career. We thought it would only be fitting to sponsor the track at Strongsville High School,” said Progressive Poured Walls’ President and 1993 Strongsville High School graduate and stand-out track athlete, Rob Pietruszka. Rob’s wife Kristy (Ramey) is also a Strongsville High School graduate (Class of 1995).

The “Excellence in Athletics” fundraising campaign has received corporate and individual donation commitments totaling over $1.5 million, since October, 2015. Donations to the campaign, which include naming rights, have been secured for the following areas:

  • Field - Serpentini Chevrolet

  • Scoreboard - Pat Catan Family

  • Concession Stands - Serpentini Chevrolet, Strongsville Chamber of Commerce

  • Bleacher Sections - Southwest General Health Center

  • Track - Progressive Poured Walls

Additional organizations who have donated to the “Excellence in Athletics” campaign include Shoreline Trucking, GPD Group, Hammond Construction, Strongsville’s Athletic Booster Club, Strongsville’s Music Booster Club, Strongsville Lacrosse, City Club, Chick-fil-A, the MAQ Center, Strongsville administration and Board members, and Strongsville PTA.

“The ‘Excellence in Athletics’ campaign would not have been possible without the tremendous support from our community. We greatly appreciate the generosity of both corporations and individuals. Having a state-of-the-art playing surface and facility for our student-athletes is just one of the exciting upgrades to the district our community will notice when school begins in August. We are extremely excited about the many ways these upgrades will benefit our students for years to come,” said Cameron Ryba, Strongsville City Schools Superintendent.

The natural grass at Pat Catan Stadium has been removed and the stadium surface is being prepared for the addition of synthetic turf. The new playing surface will be installed and ready for activity by the beginning of the Mustangs football season in mid-August. Strongsville Middle School’s field will be installed and completed this fall, as well.
