Strongsville City Schools

Earn National Distinction As

“Best Communities for Music Education”
For Fourth Straight Year

Strongsville is One of 4% of School Districts

Nationwide to Receive 2017 Award

Strongsville, OH (April 11, 2017) - Strongsville City Schools has been honored with the “Best Communities for Music Education” designation from The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. This is the fourth straight year the District has earned this distinction. Strongsville joins 527 school districts, one of 4% of the districts across the country, in receiving this prestigious award in 2017.

The “Best Communities for Music Education” designation recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the curriculum. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education. These districts and schools set the bar in offering students access to comprehensive music education.

"I am very proud to be a part of the Strongsville music department. The things that I have always loved about teaching here is that all areas of music are equally accomplished. We have great parent and community support, as well as music teachers in our district who collaborate to help students succeed,” said Chris Chidsey, Strongsville Middle School Band Director and Assistant Director for the Strongsville High School Marching Mustangs.

To qualify for the “Best Communities” designation, Strongsville City Schools answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs.
