Strongsville, OH (May 8, 2018) - Mrs. Lori Yates, third grade teacher at Kinsner Elementary has been named Outstanding District Educator for the 2017-18 school year. This annual award is presented by Strongsville Council PTA and recognizes an instructor dedicated to the missions and purposes of PTA, such as promoting the welfare of children at home, school, and in the community. In addition, recognized individuals must demonstrate a united effort between educators and the public so that children have the highest advantages in physical, mental, and social education.
Mrs. Yates has been in education for nineteen years, teaching in the Strongsville City School District for six years. A graduate of Kent State University, Mrs. Yates has also been a resident of Strongsville for fourteen years. Mrs. Yates was nominated by a member of Kinsner Elementary PTA. The nominator has a son currently in Mrs. Yates class, “Mrs. Yates went above and beyond to help my son develop the skills he needed to succeed in her classroom. She spent extra time talking with him, and even stayed in with him during lunch to help him finish his work. She has collaborated with the school psychologist to figure out ways to calm and counter some of his frustrations in learning.”
In response to this recognition, Mrs. Yates said, “I am proud to be a part of the Strongsville School District where I work with an amazing team of dedicated people who inspire me every day. I am truly honored to have been selected as PTA's Outstanding District Educator.”
Kinsner Elementary Principal Adam Marino added, “Mrs. Yates has a tremendous work ethic. She puts forth the time not only in her teaching, but in helping others and at different building level and district level committees. Mrs. Yates is also gifted at being able to anticipate when students are going to have a difficult time understanding a topic or idea. She then plans her lessons to ensure she reaches everyone.”
“The Outstanding District Educator award exemplifies the important link between teacher, parent, and student. Strongsville Council PTA is pleased to recognize Mrs. Yates this year for her dedication and commitment to Kinsner Elementary and to her students,” said Carrie Dewes, Strongsville Council PTA President.
