Strongsville City Schools
To Participate In National “Start With Hello” Week

Week of Activities & Awareness is Scheduled for September 24 - 28

Strongsville, OH (September 21, 2018) - Strongsville City Schools will be participating in the national initiative “Start With Hello” during the week of September 24 - September 28. Students at all grade levels and throughout all of the buildings in the District will be participating in activities that promote a culture of inclusion and social connectedness within each school.

During the week, students will be taught the signs and signals of social isolation. Students will also be empowered to take action if they notice someone who is feeling left out or alone. They will also be provided tools, such as conversation starters or icebreakers, to use after starting a conversation by saying “hello.”

Local businesses and civic organizations have also been encouraged to participate in this initiative by displaying signs and posting on social media with #HelloStrongsville.

“Our students, teachers, and staff have embraced “Start with Hello” week and are making plans to make this an impactful week for everyone in our District. Special thanks to our school psychologists and counselors for their efforts and creative ideas in making this memorable for the students in Strongsville. Our hope is that this serves as another reminder of the power of saying ‘hello’ and being present with those individuals you come into contact with on a daily basis. We see this carrying throughout the school year and beyond for our District. If even one student feels someone made a difference in their life by helping them feel accepted, included, and valued, our efforts will be worth it,” said Mrs. Jennifer Pelko, Assistant Superintendent for Strongsville City Schools.

Strongsville City Schools, in partnership with the community,
will ensure all students reach their fullest potential through challenging curriculum and activities,
provided by a highly qualified, motivated staff, in a safe, supportive environment with up-to-date facilities and technology.
