Strongsville City Schools Earn National Distinction
As “Best Communities for Music Education”
For Sixth Straight Year

One of Only 38 Districts in the State & One of Only 14 Districts in Northeast Ohio to Receive 2019 Award

Strongsville, OH (June 18, 2019) - Strongsville City Schools has been honored with the “Best Communities for Music Education” designation from The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. This is the sixth straight year the District has earned this distinction. Strongsville is one of 623 school districts nationwide to be recognized by NAMM, and one of just 14 school districts in Northeast Ohio to receive this prestigious award in 2019.

The “Best Communities for Music Education” designation recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the curriculum. This designation recognizes and celebrates school districts for their support and commitment to music education, for their exceptionally high commitment to music education, and for their efforts to assure access to music for all students as part of a well-rounded education. Districts earning this designation often set the bar in offering students access to comprehensive music education.

"We are pleased to once again be named as one of the ‘Best Communities for Music Education’  by the NAMM Foundation, recognizing our District’s strong tradition of music opportunities spanning all grade levels. Students have the opportunity to explore and enhance their talents in many vocal and instrumental courses. Our music department teachers continually drive our students to reach their fullest potential. We are grateful for the continued support from our parents and community contributing to the success of our comprehensive music program,” said Dr. Cameron Ryba, Superintendent of Strongsville City Schools.

To qualify for the “Best Communities” designation, Strongsville City Schools answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs.
