Wins 3rd Place in Optimist International
Oratorical World Championship
3rd Place Finish Includes $12,500 in Scholarship Money
Strongsville, OH (August 2, 2019) - Strongsville High School Student, Dylan Hyun, placed third at the recent Optimist International Oratorical World Championship. Dylan earned $12,500 in scholarship money for his third place finish at the international competition held at St. Louis University.
An incoming senior, Dylan was among more than 25,000 students from around the world who competed in local and district Optimist Oratorical Contests, before advancing to the World Championship at the end of July. The World Championship included more than 60 students from North America, Russia, and Pakistan, competing digitally and in person, delivering a four to five minute speech on the topic “Is There a Fine Line Between Optimism and Reality?” Finalists were judged based on their speech content, poise, and presentation.
“The competitors in our Oratorical World Championships are developing skills that will serve them well as leaders in business, politics, the arts and numerous other fields,” said Optimist International President Rebecca Butler Mona. “These young people exhibit the hope and positive vision that lies at the core of our mission as Optimists, and that’s why this program has endured for more than 90 years.”
