Strongsville City Schools
Recognized With Two Financial Awards

Strongsville, OH (February 25, 2020) - Strongsville City Schools has recently earned two awards for financial reporting. The District’s Treasurer’s Office has been awarded the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the 2019-20 budget year, and also recognized with the 2020 Auditor of State Award with Distinction for its 2018-19 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and Financial Audit.

This is the fourth straight year Strongsville has earned the MBA, which is an annual award presented by the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) and recognizes the District’s commitment to sound fiscal management and budgetary policies. A panel of school financial professionals reviewed Strongsville’s budget documents for required elements and certain criteria of the MBA. The panel also provided expert feedback, which can be used for future development and continued improvement of the budget documents.

The 2020 Auditor of State Award with Distinction is an award presented to those school districts that receive a “clean” audit report, meaning the district’s annual financial audit did not contain findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, single audit findings, or any questioned costs.

“We are proud to be recognized with both the Meritorious Budget Award and the Auditor of State Award with Distinction. These awards are not individual awards, but reflect a total team effort from not only the Treasurer’s Office, but from all District personnel. Our District works extremely hard throughout the year to maintain fiscal responsibility and financial transparency, as it relates to the funding we are provided by the taxpayers of our community. We continue to make this our highest priority for the benefit of the students in our District and our taxpayers,” said George Anagnostou, Strongsville City Schools Treasurer.
