Welcome to Strongsville Middle School! Our staff is dedicated to creating meaningful learning experiences that best meet our students’ needs and abilities. At our school, students are assigned to grade level teams to help create a strong bond between the classroom teacher and themselves. SMS serves roughly 1290 students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades.
As a middle school, we believe interdisciplinary units and a cross-curricular approach to learning will encourage connections among all subject areas and address the needs of our 21st century learners. All of our middle school students receive instruction in the curricular areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Additionally, students are able to select from an assortment of elective courses throughout their two years of middle school, which include vocal or instrumental music, art, technology, or family/consumer science.
In addition to our excellent academic program, we have a variety of extra- and co-curricular activities that our seventh and eighth grade students enjoy. These extra- and co-curricular activities include ski club, athletics, band, choir, and a variety of clubs.
Our new Middle School, which is being built as a part of our is part of the $81 million construction and renovation bond project will be completed and open to students in grades six, seven and eight in August 2016. The new middle school will be a combination of Center and Albion Middle School students and is in the process of being built on the land behind Center.
